  PHILOSOPHIES AND PERSPECTIVES

“Labor is prior to, and independent of capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not existed first. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much higher consideration.” - Abraham Lincoln

Who knew Abraham Lincoln could sound like such an entrepreneur? To us, this quote contains a great deal of truth, and embodies one of the principles we strive to uphold. It’s not the capital that a venture capitalist invest that makes a business successful. It’s the vision, innovation, and ultimately, hard work that entrepreneurs and investors are willing to undertake together that largely determines the likelihood of success.

  • Building successful businesses require establishing solid foundations.
Just like a strong building requires a solid foundation, successful businesses need to lay the groundwork for growth. In order to accomplish this we help new entrepreneurs navigate the unfamiliar territory of building a business from the ground up. With experienced entrepreneurs, we can share our knowledge of best practices to build thriving companies with outstanding growth potential.

  • Greater risk = Greater reward
(Especially when that risk can be managed)

Investing during the earliest stages of businesses has the greatest risk profile. However, it also has the greatest potential for generating outstanding returns. As a straightforward example, while innovative ideas require high risk capital for development, they can form the foundation for valuable intellectual property and high growth companies. Helping to manage an early stage company’s various risks while maximizing value creation is what MVP strives for.
Also, early-stage companies need the right team to build their business, and not just anyone will do. MVP has an extensive list of qualified professionals with varying backgrounds from which to introduce appropriate candidates no matter which positions need to be filled.
